Thoughts on Life

Lowell Routley

On Aging

[July 28, 2025] As I continue to reflect on my aging and my desire to continue to serve God, I look back at my role model for aging: Pop Orloff, my maternal grandfather.

When Pop finally retired from Bucyrus Erie Company in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he moved to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where my father was the director of Lake Geneva Camp and Conference Grounds.

On Sharing a Life

[April 1, 2025] Yes, it is two and a half years since the Lord took Terry home to heal her suffering.

This picture is precious to me because it reminds me afresh of the wonderful woman God provided for me as my life partner. Her joy still ministers to me.

The thought of sharing life with someone else seems like a daunting task.

On Knowing God's Will

[March 23, 2025] Those of you who have known me for a while have heard me speak of my life verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:24 – “Faithful is He who called you, He will make it happen.”

Knowing God’s will in my life has been a pursuit of mine. To do God’s will is what brings my Heavenly Father honor and how I can worship Him.

In my humanity, I have had moments that were a crisis of faith. I don’t mean doubting my relationship with Him. My crises were wondering about a new direction to go. After posting on Facebook for the first time in years, the next day I was put on hold.
